Description
Return linear-spring preload and final energies.
Material and fixture mechanics depend on loading mode, geometry, reference state and constitutive assumptions. A secant modulus, Euler load or spring-energy term is a limited model contribution rather than validation of structural capacity, fatigue life or clinical device suitability.
Return linear-spring preload and final energies.
When to use this tool
Use Bench Load Preload Energy Term when evaluating the stated benign bench mechanical or timing term.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter stiffness, preloadDisplacement, addedDisplacement. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read initialEnergy, finalEnergy, energyChange. Use the output convention below.
Return linear-spring preload and final energies. Require stiffness >= 0; initial = k*preload²/2, final = k*(preload+added)²/2, energyChange = k*added*(preload+added/2).1

| addedDisplacement | Added Displacement | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |

| initialEnergy | Initial Energy | Required. Finite number. |
| finalEnergy | Final Energy | Required. Finite number. |
| energyChange | Energy Change | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Displacements are signed and the spring is assumed linear; no physical fixture state, force limit or safe test load is determined.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
