Description
Subtract a supplied blank change and calculate a per-minute signal rate.
Biochemical quantities depend on species definitions, mass versus amount basis, reference states, blank models and assay conditions. A free/bound difference does not establish equilibrium, a per-volume activity differs from activity per protein mass, and a dilution factor differs from its reciprocal aliquot fraction.
Subtract a supplied blank change and calculate a per-minute signal rate.
When to use this tool
Use Enzyme Blank Corrected Rate when you already have sampleSignalChange, blankSignalChange, elapsedMinutes and need to subtract a supplied blank change and calculate a per-minute signal rate.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter sampleSignalChange, blankSignalChange, elapsedMinutes. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read correctedSignalChange, correctedRatePerMinute. Use the output convention below.
Require elapsedMinutes>0; corrected change=sampleSignalChange-blankSignalChange and rate=corrected change/elapsedMinutes.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| sampleSignalChange | Sample Signal Change | Required. Finite number. |
| blankSignalChange | Blank Signal Change | Required. Finite number. |
| elapsedMinutes | Elapsed Minutes | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| correctedSignalChange | Corrected Signal Change | Required. Finite number. |
| correctedRatePerMinute | Corrected Rate Per Minute | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Signals must be comparable and linear over the stated interval. No trace integration, molar calibration, background model or valid enzyme kinetics is supplied.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use the full assay, reaction and calibration method with verified sample records. Check units, reference definitions, blanks and experimental assumptions before interpreting a local product, fraction or rate as a valid biochemical measurement.
