Description
Return a supplied weighted specimen-label check symbol.
Biobank administration tracks specimen IDs, source labels, storage addresses and inventory assertions. A check symbol, row-major index or supported-record count helps reconcile metadata while actual specimen identity, storage conditions and availability require verified records and physical controls.
Return a supplied weighted specimen-label check symbol.
When to use this tool
Use Biobank Specimen Label Check Symbol when checking the stated biobank address, label, inventory or support convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter label, alphabet, weights, modulus. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read checkIndex, checkSymbol. Use the output convention below.
Return a supplied weighted specimen-label check symbol. Require unique printable ASCII alphabet, aligned nonnegative integer weights and label symbols in the alphabet; sum alphabet indexes*weights with BigInt, choose additive complement modulo the supplied modulus.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| label | Label | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| alphabet | Alphabet | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| weights | Nonnegative integer weights aligned to ASCII label positions, used in exact integer arithmetic. | Required. Array of safe integer; maximum items 256. |
| modulus | Modulus | Required. Safe integer; minimum 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| checkIndex | Check Index | Required. Safe integer. |
| checkSymbol | Check Symbol | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Modulus must be within alphabet length; this local check-digit convention does not authenticate a specimen or guarantee error detection.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use the complete inventory/label format and verified physical records; inspect actual storage and specimen conditions under appropriate professional procedures.
