Description
Return publication exposure within a supplied citation window.
Bibliographic records connect authors, versions, publication dates and locators through explicit identifiers. Literal comparisons and counts help reconcile those records but do not retrieve publications, authenticate sources or establish the quality or meaning of a citation.
Return publication exposure within a supplied citation window.
When to use this tool
Use Citation Window Exposure Length when checking the stated bibliographic record, locator, date or counting convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter publicationDay, windowStart, windowEnd, observationEnd. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read exposedDays, windowDays. Use the output convention below.
Return publication exposure within a supplied citation window. Require windowStart <= windowEnd; exposedDays = max(0,min(windowEnd,observationEnd)-max(windowStart,publicationDay)), windowDays = end-start.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- This uses continuous/half-open duration without an inclusive-day increment; no dates or actual citation opportunity are retrieved.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
