Description
Return observed baseline residual, standardized residual and exposure rate.
Behavioral timing and response summaries need compatible clocks, exposure bases, baseline definitions and observation methods. A latency correction or rate change is descriptive arithmetic rather than a demonstration of learning, habituation, extinction or causal intervention benefit.
Return observed baseline residual, standardized residual and exposure rate.
When to use this tool
Use Behavioral Baseline One Session Residual when checking the stated behavioral-research timing, baseline or response-change convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter observed, baselineMean, baselineSd, exposure. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read residual, standardizedResidual, observedRate. Use the output convention below.
Return observed baseline residual, standardized residual and exposure rate. Require baselineSd and exposure > 0; residual = observed-baselineMean, standardized = residual/SD, observedRate = observed/exposure.1

| observed | Observed | Required. Finite number. |
| baselineMean | Baseline Mean | Required. Finite number. |
| baselineSd | Baseline Sd | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| exposure | Exposure | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| residual | Signed difference in the direction stated above, with matching units. | Required. Finite number. |
| standardizedResidual | Standardized Residual | Required. Finite number. |
| observedRate | Observed Rate | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Observed values may be signed; supplied baseline parameters do not establish a z-test, clinical abnormality or causal behavioral change.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Inspect the actual study design, records and calibration; use an appropriate complete causal/statistical analysis and qualified interpretation for substantive conclusions.
