Matching Gift Net Donation Amount

Apply a supplied per-unit matching-gift rate and cap to one donor amount without selecting campaign terms.

Description

Calculate supplied capped matching-gift and total donation amounts.

Behavioral economic tasks use explicit payoff units, reference values, time periods and supplied utility or discount conventions. A decision weight need not be a probability, one branch term is not a full expectation, and a nominal cost difference does not establish perceived switching difficulty or an actual preference.

Calculate supplied capped matching-gift and total donation amounts.

When to use this tool

Use Matching Gift Net Donation Amount when you already have donorAmount, suppliedMatchPerUnit, matchCap and need to calculate supplied capped matching-gift and total donation amounts.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter donorAmount, suppliedMatchPerUnit, matchCap. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read matchAmount, totalDonation. Use the output convention below.

Require donorAmount, suppliedMatchPerUnit and matchCap nonnegative; match=min(donor*match-per-unit,cap), total=donor+match.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input

suppliedMatchPerUnitMatch amount per donor unit, not a share of total donation.Required. Finite number; minimum 0.
matchCapCap on matchAmount alone, not on totalDonation.Required. Finite number; minimum 0.

matchAmountMatch AmountRequired. Finite number.
totalDonationTotal DonationRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • The cap limits the match rather than total donation. A huge intermediate product can be capped to a finite result; no actual match eligibility, payment or donor behavior is established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the full task design, incentive and payoff definitions, participant records and statistical analysis. Estimate behavioral models from appropriate data when local supplied-value arithmetic cannot establish preferences or causal effects.
