Account Number Length Country Lookup
Audit observed account digit length against explicit versioned caller country/bank policy table; absent country remains unavailable, not an invented universal national account length or IBAN validation.
Description
Account-number length is a country or bank policy rather than a universal account-validity test.
Account-number length is a country or bank policy rather than a universal account-validity test. Text preserves leading zeros.1
The returned values include Caller country policy found, Observed account digit length, Minimum declared account length, Maximum declared account length, Within caller country length policy. The How section below explains the calculation, input rules and interpretation.
When to use Account Number Length Country Lookup
Use Account Number Length Country Lookup when you need to evaluate the supplied records under the calculation and evidence rules below. No universal national length, account assignment, checksum or IBAN validation is supplied.
Gather verified caller country/notation requirements. Keep identifiers as strings so leading zeros survive; supply the applicable lookup table rather than assuming a built-in country rule.
How to use Account Number Length Country Lookup and understand its results
- Gather verified caller country/notation requirements. Keep identifiers as strings so leading zeros survive; supply the applicable lookup table rather than assuming a built-in country rule.
- Enter callerCountryCodes, callerMinimumLengths, callerMaximumLengths, selectedCountryCode, accountNumberText using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read callerCountryPolicyFound, observedAccountDigitLength, minimumDeclaredAccountLength, maximumDeclaredAccountLength, withinCallerCountryLengthPolicy. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| callerCountryCodes | Caller country codes | list of string | Required |
| callerMinimumLengths | Caller minimum lengths | list of number | Required |
| callerMaximumLengths | Caller maximum lengths | list of number | Required |
| selectedCountryCode | Selected country code | string | Required |
| accountNumberText | Account number text | string | Required |
Enter aligned nonempty unique two-uppercase-letter caller country labels and integer minimum/maximum lengths 1–128 with minimum≤maximum, a syntactic two-letter query and 1–128 exact ASCII account digits. Return policy-found flag, observed length, declared bounds and inclusive length flag. An absent country returns −1 bounds and false flags; country labels are not checked against a directory.
within=policyFound and minimum≤digitCount≤maximum Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| callerCountryPolicyFound | Caller country policy found | boolean |
| observedAccountDigitLength | Observed account digit length | number |
| minimumDeclaredAccountLength | Minimum declared account length | number |
| maximumDeclaredAccountLength | Maximum declared account length | number |
| withinCallerCountryLengthPolicy | Within caller country length policy | boolean |

} Limitations and assumptions
No universal national length, account assignment, checksum or IBAN validation is supplied.
Numeric inputs, where present, must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Numeric lists are limited to 10,000 entries and string lists to 128 entries of at most 128 characters. Follow any smaller limits above. Extremely large text inputs are rejected. Missing fields without a declared default, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors. A successfully returned false flag is an evaluated outcome; its meaning is explained above.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use ABA Routing Checksum Validator: The ABA routing checksum detects some transcription errors using weighted digits. Checksum agreement alone cannot establish a real routing assignment. For a complementary task, use UK Sort Code Format Parse Tool: Parse exact UK sort-code notation and preserve leading zeros; format normalization only, no bank/branch assignment, account match, checksum or payment-network eligibility.
