Cash on Hand Count Denomination Sheet Procedure
Reconcile counted cash by denomination to system quantities and a ledger expected total, returning denomination-level and overall differences.
Description
Cash denomination reconciliation compares counted values with system quantities and a separate expected balance.
Cash denomination reconciliation compares counted values with system quantities and a separate expected balance.1
This tool calculates signed differences and checks two aggregate tolerances without physically counting cash.
When to use Cash on Hand Count Denomination Sheet Procedure
Use this tool to calculate signed differences and checks two aggregate tolerances without physically counting cash.
How to use Cash on Hand Count Denomination Sheet Procedure and how it works
- Establish the observations, units, reference context and assumptions described below.
- Enter countedTotals, denominationValues, expectedTotal, systemCounts, tolerance and run the tool.
- Read countedTotal, overallDifference, perDenominationDifferences, reconciled, systemTotal using the meanings and sign conventions below.
- Correct any rejected inputs and rerun; independently review the result under the stated scope.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| countedTotals | Counted monetary value for each denomination, not a count of notes or coins. | array of number | Required; branch conditions below |
| denominationValues | Positive value of each cash denomination. | array of number | Required; branch conditions below |
| expectedTotal | Cash balance expected by the accounting record. | number | Required; finite; minimum 0; branch conditions below |
| systemCounts | Nonnegative system quantity for each denomination; the implementation accepts fractional quantities. | array of number | Required; branch conditions below |
| tolerance | Tolerance, on the measurement or ledger basis specified below. | number | Required; finite; minimum 0; branch conditions below |
Supply nonempty aligned denomination values, system quantities and counted monetary totals, plus nonnegative expected monetary total and tolerance. Denominations must be positive; quantities and counted totals nonnegative, with fractional quantities accepted. Multiply denomination by system quantity, subtract each from its counted value, and sum both bases. Return counted-minus-system overall difference; reconciled requires its absolute amount and absolute counted-minus-expected amount both<=tolerance. Individual discrepancies can cancel and are not independently thresholded.
systemTotal=sum(denomination_i*systemQuantity_i); countedTotal=sum(countedValues); reconciled=(abs(counted-system)<=tolerance && abs(counted-expected)<=tolerance) Use the stated ordering, units and branch conditions.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| countedTotal | Sum of counted denomination values in the chosen monetary unit. | number |
| overallDifference | Signed counted total minus system total; row discrepancies can cancel. | number |
| perDenominationDifferences | Signed counted value minus denomination times system quantity, in row order. | array of number |
| reconciled | True when both aggregate absolute differences meet tolerance; individual differences are returned separately. | boolean |
| systemTotal | Sum of denomination value times recorded system quantity in the same monetary unit. | number |

} Limitations and assumptions
The result summarizes supplied audit observations under the stated arithmetic or checklist rule. It does not inspect underlying documents, select sufficient audit evidence, make a professional assurance judgment or establish regulatory compliance. Empty or all-true input can describe only the recorded assertions.
Supply explicit values and dense aligned arrays. Unexpected fields, wrong types and nonfinite scalar values are rejected; fixed-token, alignment and other branch conditions are explained above. A successful false flag, empty match list or unknown-evidence list differs from an input error. Extremely large inputs or nonrepresentable results may fail.
