Description
Return one channel's mean measured-minus-reference bias.
Audiological records depend on ear/channel identity, stimulus calibration, timing and decibel reference conventions. A local level difference or response share can reconcile supplied observations while hearing ability, safe sound output and clinical test interpretation require validated procedures and professional assessment.
Return one channel's mean measured-minus-reference bias.
When to use this tool
Use Tone Channel Level Bias when checking the stated hearing-test record, acoustic level, frequency or timing convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter measuredLevels, referenceLevels, channelIds, selectedChannel. Follow any array-alignment requirements below. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read matchedPairs, meanBias, defined. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.
Return one channel's mean measured-minus-reference bias. Require aligned arrays; select matching channel IDs, average paired differences, otherwise zero with defined false.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| measuredLevels | Measured Levels | Required. Array of finite number; maximum items 256. |
| referenceLevels | Reference Levels | Required. Array of finite number; maximum items 256. |
| channelIds | Channel Ids | Required. Array of text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192; maximum items 256. |
| selectedChannel | Selected Channel | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| matchedPairs | Matched Pairs | Required. Safe integer. |
| meanBias | Mean measured-reference level on selectedChannel, or zero placeholder when defined=false. | Required. Finite number. |
| defined | Whether the stated denominator or information basis supports this value; inspect placeholders before interpretation. | Required. Boolean. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Levels must share dB/reference conventions; no calibration procedure, device certification or hearing diagnosis is performed.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use calibrated equipment and a complete validated audiological method; consult an appropriate hearing-health professional for diagnosis, fitting or safe exposure decisions.
