Zodiac Sign and Degree to Longitude Converter

Convert a one-based zodiac sector and half-open within-sign degree into longitude, retaining an explicit zodiac convention without a date or ephemeris.

Description

Convert a supplied zodiac position to ecliptic-longitude notation.

Traditional chart systems use ordered symbolic labels and cyclic angular notation. Arithmetic on supplied stems, sign positions or reflected angles can preserve a convention without computing dates, establishing astronomical positions or supporting personality or future-event predictions.

Convert a supplied zodiac position to ecliptic-longitude notation.

When to use this tool

Use Zodiac Sign and Degree to Longitude Converter when checking the stated traditional label-selection or angular-notation convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter signOrdinal, withinSignDegrees, zodiac. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read result. Expand result to inspect the returned fields.

Convert a supplied zodiac position to ecliptic-longitude notation. Require whole signOrdinal 1..12, withinSignDegrees in [0,30) and tropical/sidereal-resolved label; longitude = 30*(sign-1)+withinSign.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
signOrdinalSign OrdinalRequired. Safe integer. Calculation range: 1 through 12, inclusive.
withinSignDegreesWithin Sign Degrees Unit: deg.Required. Finite number.
zodiacLiteral tropical or sidereal-resolved label; no conversion between reference systems occurs.Required. Text; one of "tropical", "sidereal-resolved". Implementation limit: 8192 Unicode code points and 16384 UTF-16 code units.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
resultReturned calculated value or nested object under the stated output convention.Required. Object.
result.longitudeDegreesLongitude DegreesCalculated result member: number.
result.zodiacLiteral tropical or sidereal-resolved label; no conversion between reference systems occurs.Calculated result member: string.

Limitations and assumptions

  • The zodiac system is retained as a label; no sidereal offset, ephemeris, birth chart or scientifically supported prediction is computed.
  • Outputs are nested inside result. Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use an appropriate calendar or astronomical ephemeris when actual dates or positions are needed, and interpret traditional chart labels within their stated cultural context.
