Drawing Exercise Horizon Reference Line

Normalize a supplied drawing horizon coordinate by positive canvas height, allowing horizons outside the canvas.

Description

Calculate a supplied horizon position as a canvas-height fraction.

Studio records combine critique categories, time allowances, grid scales, nominal storage counts and permission assertions. A linear enlargement factor must be squared for area, while slot counts do not establish safe physical storage. Supplied rubric labels and participation records do not assess learning or artistic quality.

Calculate a supplied horizon position as a canvas-height fraction.

When to use this tool

Use Drawing Exercise Horizon Reference Line when you already have canvasHeight, horizonFromTop and need to calculate a supplied horizon position as a canvas-height fraction.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter canvasHeight, horizonFromTop. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read horizonFraction. Use the output convention below.

Require canvasHeight>0; return signed horizonFromTop/canvasHeight.1

canvasHeightCanvas HeightRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Values outside [0,1] are accepted. This locates a supplied line coordinate rather than inferring perspective, viewpoint or drawing quality.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the actual classroom, materials, work, rubric and permissions. Use complete educational and physical assessment when local labels, counts or duration budgets cannot establish access, suitable instruction or safe studio arrangements.
