Description
Calculate a supplied sensitivity-weighted multiband exposure term.
Conservation records distinguish measured areas, source-qualified condition labels, storage clearances and light exposure. Lux-hours measure photometric exposure, whereas material response depends on spectrum and sensitivity. A nominal inverse-square distance ratio or geometric mask share does not establish an appropriate treatment or safe display limit.
Calculate a supplied sensitivity-weighted multiband exposure term.
When to use this tool
Use Display Spectrum Weighted Band Dose when you already have bandIrradiances, sensitivityWeights, exposureHours and need to calculate a supplied sensitivity-weighted multiband exposure term.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter bandIrradiances, sensitivityWeights, exposureHours. Follow any array-alignment requirements below. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read weightedDose. Use the output convention below.
Require aligned nonnegative band irradiances/weights and exposureHours>=0; sum irradiance*weight and multiply by hours.1
Material sensitivity varies with wavelength. The supplied band weights define this particular exposure calculation; it does not choose a damage function or a universally safe display dose.2
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| bandIrradiances | Nonnegative band-integrated irradiances, or densities paired with bandwidth-inclusive weights. | Required. Array of finite number; maximum items 256. |
| sensitivityWeights | Sensitivity Weights | Required. Array of finite number; maximum items 256. |
| exposureHours | Exposure Hours | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| weightedDose | Sum of band irradiance*weight times hours; dimension follows supplied weights. W/m² with dimensionless weights yields Wh/m², not J/m². | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Inputs must be band-integrated irradiance, or the weights must include bandwidth factors. No normalization or wavelength integration is added; units and damage model depend on supplied weights, and no safe dose is selected.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use calibrated observations and the complete conservation, lighting or transport assessment. Check material response, geometry, history and actual condition before applying local ratios, exposure terms or labels to an object.
