Regional Source Language Coverage Flag

Compare explicit requested and source language-code lists without inferring linguistic representativeness.

Description

Find requested language codes absent from a supplied source list.

Regional sources preserve geographic scope, language coverage, boundary vintages, archive identifiers and historical wording. A statistic year can differ from its boundary year, and a source-access label does not grant reuse rights. Literal names and transliterations require their own documentary context.

Find requested language codes absent from a supplied source list.

When to use this tool

Use Regional Source Language Coverage Flag when you already have requestedLanguages, sourceLanguages and need to find requested language codes absent from a supplied source list.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter requestedLanguages, sourceLanguages. Follow any array-alignment requirements below. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read allCovered, missingLanguages. Inspect allCovered before interpreting the associated values.

Deduplicate requestedLanguages in first-occurrence order and retain exact codes missing from sourceLanguages; allCovered is true when none remain.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • An empty request is fully covered. Codes are unparsed and coverage is supplied, not a verified translation, accessible source or content-quality assessment.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Consult original datasets, maps, archives and language sources. Verify geography, period, translation and permissions before using local identifiers or labels to support historical, political or statistical interpretations.
