Rolled Item Diameter Storage Tube Size Selector
Select from measured tube interior diameters using area-conserving uncompressed roll around declared core and radial clearance; no safe bend radius, interlayer gaps or conservation material suitability guarantee.
Description
A tightly rolled flat item occupies an annulus around its core.
A tightly rolled flat item occupies an annulus around its core. Conservation of cross-sectional area estimates its outer diameter before adding a declared tube clearance.1
Select from measured tube interior diameters using area-conserving uncompressed roll around declared core and radial clearance; no safe bend radius, interlayer gaps or conservation material suitability guarantee.
When to use Rolled Item Diameter Storage Tube Size Selector
Use this tool to select from measured tube interior diameters using area-conserving uncompressed roll around declared core and radial clearance; no safe bend radius, interlayer gaps or conservation material suitability guarantee.
Prepare the inventory, measurements or policy dates for the collection and reporting period. Confirm units, record order and any independently established thresholds or permissions.
How to use Rolled Item Diameter Storage Tube Size Selector and understand its results
- Prepare the inventory, measurements or policy dates for the collection and reporting period. Confirm units, record order and any independently established thresholds or permissions.
- Enter rolledItemLengthMm, itemThicknessMm, coreOuterDiameterMm, callerRadialClearanceMm, availableTubeInternalDiametersMm using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read uncompressedModelRollOuterDiameterMm, minimumCallerTubeInternalDiameterMm, selectedTubeInternalDiameterMm, availableTubeFound. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| rolledItemLengthMm | Rolled item length mm | number | Required |
| itemThicknessMm | Item thickness mm | number | Required |
| coreOuterDiameterMm | Core outer diameter mm | number | Required |
| callerRadialClearanceMm | Caller radial clearance mm | number | Required |
| availableTubeInternalDiametersMm | Available tube internal diameters mm | list of number | Required |
Supply nonnegative item length, thickness, core diameter and radial clearance in mm, and at least two positive strictly increasing available internal tube diameters. The tool computes required diameter and chooses the first tube at least that large. If none fits, it returns selected diameter zero and availableTubeFound false.
Each sequence checked for increasing order must contain at least two strictly increasing values.
rollDiameter = 2√[(coreDiameter/2)² + itemLength × thickness/π]; required = rollDiameter + 2 clearance Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| uncompressedModelRollOuterDiameterMm | Uncompressed model roll outer diameter mm | number |
| minimumCallerTubeInternalDiameterMm | Minimum caller tube internal diameter mm | number |
| selectedTubeInternalDiameterMm | Selected tube internal diameter mm | number |
| availableTubeFound | Available tube found | boolean |

} Limitations and assumptions
The model assumes an uncompressed uniform roll without interlayer gaps. It does not establish a safe bend radius, material compatibility or conservation treatment. The zero selected diameter is a placeholder when no tube is available.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Numeric lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors. A successfully returned false flag is an evaluated outcome; its meaning is explained above.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Retrieval Cart Load Capacity Box Limit Checker: Fit ordered retrieval-box prefix under separately declared gross-minus-tare and count limits; no cart strength, center-of-gravity or manual-handling safety evaluation. For a complementary task, use Folder Count per Box Standard Capacity Checker: Fit an original-order prefix of measured folder thickness into declared usable box width with explicit caller compression allowance; no safe document compression or generic folders-per-box standard.
