Original Order Preservation Deviation Flag Checker
Audit actual original/current matched stable identities through displacements and pair inversions, rather than infer archival integrity from moved count; missing/duplicate identity is unresolved, not accepted.
Description
Original order concerns relative arrangement of stable item identities.
Original order concerns relative arrangement of stable item identities. Displacements show individual movement, while pair inversions quantify reversals of that original relative order.1

When to use Original Order Preservation Deviation Flag Checker
Use this tool to audit actual original/current matched stable identities through displacements and pair inversions, rather than infer archival integrity from moved count; missing/duplicate identity is unresolved, not accepted.
Prepare the inventory, measurements or policy dates for the collection and reporting period. Confirm units, record order and any independently established thresholds or permissions.
How to use Original Order Preservation Deviation Flag Checker and understand its results
- Prepare the inventory, measurements or policy dates for the collection and reporting period. Confirm units, record order and any independently established thresholds or permissions.
- Enter originalStableItemOrder, currentStableItemOrder using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read signedOrdinalDisplacements, relativeOrderInversionCount, originalOrderPreserved. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| originalStableItemOrder | Original stable item order | string | Required |
| currentStableItemOrder | Current stable item order | string | Required |
Paste original and current identity lists, one exact ID per line. Both inventories must be nonempty, unique and contain the same IDs. The tool maps original IDs to current positions, returns signed zero-based displacements, counts all pair inversions and flags preserved order only when there are no inversions. Blank interior lines and surrounding whitespace are rejected.
displacement_i = currentPosition(originalItem_i)−i; inversions = count of reversed original pairs Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| signedOrdinalDisplacements | Signed ordinal displacements | list of number |
| relativeOrderInversionCount | Relative order inversion count | number |
| originalOrderPreserved | Original order preserved | boolean |

} Limitations and assumptions
This compares documented identities and order, not provenance quality or archival completeness. It does not reconcile missing items. Lists are bounded to 1,000 identities to limit pairwise work.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Extremely large text inputs are rejected. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors. A successfully returned false flag is an evaluated outcome; its meaning is explained above.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Offsite Storage Transport Manifest Box Count Reconciler: Reconcile stable expected/arrived box identities including duplicates, not mere equal counts or inferred transport chain of custody. For a complementary task, use Context Number Sequence Checker: Audit observed context IDs for missing expected numbers, duplicates and outside-range IDs; omissions do not establish lost archaeological contexts.
