Description
Return a solids-separator mass difference and fraction.
Aquaponic balances distinguish wet feed, dry matter, nutrient mass, concentration and water volume. A balance term can expose changes or losses without identifying nutrient availability, biological conversion or a suitable supplement dose. Each mass fraction must be attached to its stated material basis.
Return a solids-separator mass difference and fraction.
When to use this tool
Use Aquaponic Solids Separator Captured Mass Term when checking the stated aquaponic material, nutrient or measurement basis.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter inletMass, outletMass, bypassMass. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read capturedMass, captureFraction. Use the output convention below.
Return a solids-separator mass difference and fraction. Require inletMass > 0 and outlet/bypass masses >= 0; capturedMass = inlet-outlet-bypass, captureFraction = captured/inlet.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| inletMass | Inlet Mass | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| outletMass | Outlet Mass | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| bypassMass | Bypass Mass | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| capturedMass | inletMass-outletMass-bypassMass; signed negative results are retained. | Required. Finite number. |
| captureFraction | Capture Fraction Unit: 1. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Negative capture is retained; no actual separation, treatment performance or safe water condition is verified.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
