pH Adjustment
Interpolate a monotone measured titration curve and scale the identical-water/identical-titrant sample dose; no generic pH-to-reagent chemistry, equilibrium guarantee or operational dosing advice.
Description
Scaling a measured titration curve estimates reagent volume for the same water and reagent.
Scaling a measured titration curve estimates reagent volume for the same water and reagent. The response is interpolated from measurements rather than inferred from pH alone.1
Interpolate a monotone measured titration curve and scale the identical-water/identical-titrant sample dose; no generic pH-to-reagent chemistry, equilibrium guarantee or operational dosing advice.
When to use pH Adjustment
Use this tool to interpolate a monotone measured titration curve and scale the identical-water/identical-titrant sample dose; no generic pH-to-reagent chemistry, equilibrium guarantee or operational dosing advice.
Prepare the cohort, water, feed or equipment measurements for one consistent operating period. Confirm nitrogen reporting bases, dry/wet masses, flow units and supplied design assumptions.
How to use pH Adjustment and understand its results
- Prepare the cohort, water, feed or equipment measurements for one consistent operating period. Confirm nitrogen reporting bases, dry/wet masses, flow units and supplied design assumptions.
- Enter sampleWaterLiters, titrantVolumesMl, measuredPhValues, targetPh, systemWaterLiters using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read interpolatedSampleTitrantMl, scaledSystemTitrantLiters. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| sampleWaterLiters | Sample water liters | number | Required |
| titrantVolumesMl | Titrant volumes ml | list of number | Required |
| measuredPhValues | Measured ph values | list of number | Required |
| targetPh | Target ph | number | Required |
| systemWaterLiters | System water liters | number | Required |
Enter positive sample/system water volumes, at least two increasing nonnegative titrant doses and aligned pH readings in 0–14. pH must vary strictly monotonically; decreasing curves are reversed for interpolation. The target must fall within measured pH. Return interpolated sample mL and scaled system L.
Paired lists must be nonempty and have equal lengths. Sequences checked for increasing order must contain at least two strictly increasing values.
sampleDose=linearInterpolation(pH,dose, targetPH); systemDoseL=sampleDoseMl/sampleWaterL × systemWaterL/1000 Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| interpolatedSampleTitrantMl | Interpolated sample titrant ml | number |
| scaledSystemTitrantLiters | Scaled system titrant liters | number |

No extrapolation or generic acid/base chemistry is used. Different alkalinity, reagent strength, mixing or biological conditions can invalidate simple volume scaling.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use RAS Water Balance: Solve steady RAS purge/makeup from nitrate production, nitrate-bearing makeup and solute-free evaporation; distinguishes internal circulation from boundary replacement and excludes denitrification. For a complementary task, use Nitrite Toxicity: Screen measured nitrite on an explicit NO2-N basis against caller concentration and chloride-ratio criteria; no universal species toxicity limit, diagnosis or salt dosing recommendation.
