Feed Batch Dry Mass Adjustment Tool

Calculate feed batch dry mass adjustment from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Adjust feed mass while conserving supplied dry matter.

Aquaculture material budgets distinguish as-fed mass, dry mass, specific energy and nutrient fractions. Offered feed, recovered feed and estimated intake are different quantities. Arithmetic balances do not determine biological utilization, an appropriate diet, disease status or a safe feeding recommendation.

Adjust feed mass while conserving supplied dry matter.

When to use this tool

Use Feed Batch Dry Mass Adjustment when checking the stated aquaculture feed, material or composition basis.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter recordedMass, oldMoisture, newMoisture. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read newMass, change. Use the output convention below.

Adjust feed mass while conserving supplied dry matter. Require recordedMass >= 0 and both moisture fractions in [0,1); newMass = recordedMass*(1-oldMoisture)/(1-newMoisture), change = new-recorded.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • This assumes dry matter is conserved; actual storage losses, feed quality and appropriate feeding are not assessed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified feed and animal records, representative measurements and qualified aquaculture/veterinary advice for actual nutrition, welfare or water-quality decisions.
