Cage Marked Depth Offset

Calculate signed marked cage depth minus supplied reference depth in consistent units.

Loading tool…

Description

Compare supplied marked and reference depths.

Aquaculture records distinguish gross harvest, tare, retained water, sample expansion, feed withdrawal and recorded live counts. Delivered feed differs from ingestion, and nominal mesh geometry differs from behavior under load. Local mass, depth and energy terms do not establish animal welfare, water quality or suitable stocking.

Compare supplied marked and reference depths.

When to use this tool

Use Cage Marked Depth Offset when you already have referenceDepth, markedDepth and need to compare supplied marked and reference depths.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter referenceDepth, markedDepth. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read signedGap. Use the output convention below.

Return markedDepth-referenceDepth with signs preserved.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
referenceDepthReference DepthRequired. Finite number.
markedDepthMarked DepthRequired. Finite number.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
signedGapSigned GapRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Use a common depth origin, direction and unit. No actual cage, depth, seabed clearance or suitable installation is assessed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review original weighing, sample, feed, water and equipment records. Use the complete veterinary, biological and engineering assessment for real operation; local record checks do not determine appropriate management or safe handling.
