Split Ratio Colony Divider

Apportion integer adults/brood frames by largest remainders and continuous feed by caller split weights; input order breaks integer ties, and biological adequacy is not inferred.

Description

Colony-resource allocation combines whole adult-bee and brood-frame counts with continuous feed mass.

Colony-resource allocation combines whole adult-bee and brood-frame counts with continuous feed mass. Largest-remainder rounding preserves whole totals while following supplied split weights.1

Apportion integer adults/brood frames by largest remainders and continuous feed by caller split weights; input order breaks integer ties, and biological adequacy is not inferred.

When to use Split Ratio Colony Divider

Use this tool to apportion integer adults/brood frames by largest remainders and continuous feed by caller split weights; input order breaks integer ties, and biological adequacy is not inferred.

Prepare the hive, sample or operating measurements and any supplied target values. Confirm units, timing and whether counts or masses refer to the same population or batch.

How to use Split Ratio Colony Divider and understand its results

  1. Prepare the hive, sample or operating measurements and any supplied target values. Confirm units, timing and whether counts or masses refer to the same population or batch.
  2. Enter parentAdultBeeCount, parentBroodFrameCount, parentFeedKg, splitWeights using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read adultBeeAllocations, broodFrameAllocations, feedAllocationsKg. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.

Enter nonnegative integer parent adults and brood frames, nonnegative feed kg and 1–128 nonnegative split weights with positive total. Allocate each integer resource independently, breaking remainder ties by input order. Distribute feed continuously by weight. Return allocations in split order.

integer share = floor(total × weight/Σweights), then assign remaining units by descending fractional remainder

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

Resource conservation does not establish biological adequacy or successful splits. Fractional weights are preferences rather than observed colony need. Numerically unsafe allocation precision is rejected.

Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Numeric lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use Mating Nuc Resource Allocation Split: Plan whole mating nucs against disjoint brood, bee, feed and queen resources with caller per-nuc needs; not a biological adequacy or colony-splitting recommendation. For a complementary task, use Nuc Frames Transfer Plan 5Frame Guide: Plan a nuc frame transfer against caller class requests and slots, taking donor order as explicit priority; no fixed five-frame recipe, queen relocation or actual hive modification.
