Anatomical Plane Offset Tool

Compare one supplied coordinate with an axis-aligned research plane under an explicit normal sign.

Loading tool…

Description

Return signed scalar distance from a supplied coordinate plane.

Anatomical diagrams and idealized models require explicit coordinate origins, axes, dimensions and indexing conventions. Translations, vector projections and simple shape formulas describe supplied geometry rather than identifying actual anatomy or determining a medical finding. A scaled drawing or ideal branching tree needs separate anatomical verification.

Return signed scalar distance from a supplied coordinate plane.

When to use this tool

Use Anatomical Plane Offset when checking the stated diagram, coordinate, vector or ideal-shape convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter coordinate, planeCoordinate, positiveNormal. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read offset. Use the output convention below.

Return signed scalar distance from a supplied coordinate plane. Require positiveNormal -1 or +1; offset = (coordinate-planeCoordinate)*sign.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
coordinateCoordinateRequired. Finite number.
planeCoordinatePlane CoordinateRequired. Finite number.
positiveNormalNumeric axis orientation restricted to +1 or -1.Required. Safe integer.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
offsetOffsetRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • This is an axis-aligned scalar convention, not Euclidean distance to an arbitrary plane or actual anatomical localization.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified anatomical measurements and an appropriate complete spatial model; consult qualified health professionals for actual medical interpretation.
