Archive Reel Frame Boundary Tool

Map a frame to a supplied half-open reel interval; outside indices remain signed relative coordinates.

Description

Return local archive-frame offset and reel inclusion.

Historical and archival records distinguish source labels, local grid conventions, edition numbers and validity periods. A parsed token or geometric area term cannot establish provenance, historical identity or land rights. Date endpoints, text-counting units and numbering origins must match the original record.

Return local archive-frame offset and reel inclusion.

When to use this tool

Use Archive Reel Frame Boundary when checking the stated archival record, grid, edition or validity-period convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter reelStart, reelLength, absoluteFrame. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read inside, localFrame. Inspect inside before interpreting the associated values.

Return local archive-frame offset and reel inclusion. Require nonnegative whole reelStart/reelLength/absoluteFrame; localFrame = absolute-start, inside requires nonnegative local value < reelLength.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Outside local offsets remain signed; no archive lookup, image availability or source identity is verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Consult the original archive, survey and applicable authority for historical interpretation, provenance or actual property rights.
