Description
Return strip-covered width and a signed requirement margin.
Agricultural machinery budgets combine supplied geometry, speed, efficiency and operating intervals. Nominal capacity differs from measured field performance; slip, headland losses and overlap can use different bases and must not be counted twice. Local hydraulic or static-load terms do not establish equipment safety or suitability.
Return strip-covered width and a signed requirement margin.
When to use this tool
Use Bale Wrap Layer Width Remainder when checking the stated benign machinery geometry, capacity, flow or load convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter requiredWidth, stripWidth, overlapWidth, strips. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read coveredWidth, margin. Use the output convention below.
Return strip-covered width and a signed requirement margin. Require nonnegative whole strips, requiredWidth >= 0, stripWidth > 0 and overlap in [0,stripWidth); zero strips covers zero, otherwise width+(strips-1)*(width-overlap), margin subtracts required.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|

| stripWidth | Strip Width | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| overlapWidth | Overlap Width | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| strips | Strips | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| coveredWidth | Covered Width | Required. Finite number. |
| margin | Margin | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This assumes parallel regular strips; actual wrap geometry, layer quality and safe operation are not established.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use measured operating data, manufacturer specifications and qualified agricultural/engineering review for actual equipment selection, operation or safety.
