Tree Row Crop Alley Share Tool

Calculate tree row crop alley share from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Return alley-excluded and that usable width divided by row+alley.

Agroforestry geometry separates row widths, root-zone intervals, canopy projections and repeated-strip area bases. Optical shade, optical porosity and a clear machinery corridor are different quantities. Ideal dimensions and supplied overlaps can support bookkeeping without establishing light conditions, aerodynamic shelter or safe access.

Return alley-excluded and that usable width divided by row+alley.

When to use this tool

Use Tree Row Crop Alley Share when checking the stated ideal tree-row, shade, buffer or area convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter rowWidth, alleyWidth, excludedAlleyWidth. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read usableAlleyWidth, alleyShare. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative row and alley widths with positive combined width, and an excluded width within the alley. Return alley-excluded and that usable width divided by row+alley.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The denominator includes the full repeated strip; no actual field layout or ecological response is inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use measured terrain and canopy geometry, appropriate light/flow models and qualified agricultural/engineering assessment for actual layouts and operations.
