Soil Aggregate Stability Wet Dry Factor Tool

Dry-mass aggregate fraction corrected by the same supplied coarse nonaggregate mass in both measurements.

Loading tool…

Description

Subtract coarseMass from stable and initial masses, then divide corrected stable by corrected initial.

Agroecological material and density summaries depend on dry/wet mass, seed-component purity, nutrient transformations and sole-crop reference densities. An arithmetic contribution evaluates supplied assumptions without predicting emergence, nutrient availability or a whole-system ecological outcome.

Subtract coarseMass from stable and initial masses, then divide corrected stable by corrected initial.

When to use this tool

Use Soil Aggregate Stability Wet Dry Factor when checking the stated residue, seed, nutrient or reference-density basis.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter stableDryMass, initialDryMass, coarseMass. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read correctedStableMass, correctedInitialMass, stableFraction. Use the output convention below.

Require 0<=coarseMass<=stableDryMass<=initialDryMass and initialDryMass>coarseMass. Subtract coarseMass from stable and initial masses, then divide corrected stable by corrected initial.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The coarse correction and laboratory protocol are supplied; the ratio does not independently characterize all soil structure.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use representative field/laboratory measurements and a complete suitable agroecological model for management decisions and uncertainty.
