Description
Sum area*bloomDays, then divide by observationDays for equivalentBloomArea.
Ecological observation summaries depend on sampling effort, eligible time, classified counts and missingness policies. Flower-minutes, area-days and observed proportions have different denominators. Observation support is distinct from true abundance, detection probability or a causal biological-control effect.
Sum area*bloomDays, then divide by observationDays for equivalentBloomArea.
When to use this tool
Use Flower Strip Bloom Day Weight when checking the stated observation support, exposure, sample or seasonal-gap convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter areas, bloomDays, observationDays. Follow any array-alignment requirements below. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read areaDays, equivalentBloomArea. Use the output convention below.
Require aligned nonnegative areas and bloom-day durations within a positive observation duration. Sum area*bloomDays, then divide by observationDays for equivalentBloomArea.1

|---|---|---|
| areas | Areas | Required. Array of finite number; maximum items 256. |
| bloomDays | Supplied bloom durations within observationDays; fractional days are allowed. | Required. Array of finite number; maximum items 256. |
| observationDays | Observation Days | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| areaDays | Area*time sum; overlaps remain counted as supplied. | Required. Finite number. |
| equivalentBloomArea | Equivalent Bloom Area | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Bloom days may be fractional; overlapping areas and actual flowering intensity are not deduplicated or inferred.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
