Agriculture Milk Yield Per Cow
Normalize interval milk inventories by actual lactating cow-days, separating accepted and rejected milk; not an unweighted per-cow average or a production/health guarantee.
Description
Milk yield over changing herds needs lactating cow-days rather than a single headcount.
Milk yield over changing herds needs lactating cow-days rather than a single headcount. Separating accepted milk from rejected milk preserves the marketed-output distinction.1
Normalize interval milk inventories by actual lactating cow-days, separating accepted and rejected milk; not an unweighted per-cow average or a production/health guarantee.
When to use Agriculture Milk Yield Per Cow
Use this tool to normalize interval milk inventories by actual lactating cow-days, separating accepted and rejected milk; not an unweighted per-cow average or a production/health guarantee.
Prepare the field, crop, soil or material measurements for the intended period. Confirm units, dry/wet bases and supplied parameters; keep paired observations aligned.
How to use Agriculture Milk Yield Per Cow and understand its results
- Prepare the field, crop, soil or material measurements for the intended period. Confirm units, dry/wet bases and supplied parameters; keep paired observations aligned.
- Enter collectedMilkMassKgByInterval, lactatingCowCountsByInterval, intervalDurationsDays, rejectedMilkMassKgByInterval using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read totalLactatingCowDays, grossMilkKgPerLactatingCowDay, acceptedMilkKgPerLactatingCowDay. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| collectedMilkMassKgByInterval | Collected milk mass kg by interval | list of number | Required |
| lactatingCowCountsByInterval | Lactating cow counts by interval | list of number | Required |
| intervalDurationsDays | Interval durations days | list of number | Required |
| rejectedMilkMassKgByInterval | Rejected milk mass kg by interval | list of number | Required |
Pair nonnegative milk and rejected kg with nonnegative integer lactating counts and positive interval days. Rejected mass cannot exceed collected mass in any interval, and total cow-days must be positive. Return exposure and gross/accepted kg per lactating cow-day.
Paired lists must be nonempty and have equal lengths.
cowDays = Σ(cows_i days_i); grossRate = Σmilk/cowDays; acceptedRate = Σ(milk−rejected)/cowDays Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| totalLactatingCowDays | Total lactating cow days | number |
| grossMilkKgPerLactatingCowDay | Gross milk kg per lactating cow day | number |
| acceptedMilkKgPerLactatingCowDay | Accepted milk kg per lactating cow day | number |

Milk inventories and herd exposure must describe matching intervals. The result does not diagnose animal health or compare productivity after adjusting breed, lactation stage or management.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Numeric lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Agriculture Egg Production Rate: Account gross/marketable observed egg inventory per actual hen-days with varying collection periods; hen-day production is eggs per hen-day×100, not a binomial egg probability or nutritional adequacy. For a complementary task, use Agriculture Daily Weight Gain: Retain signed paired animal weight changes normalized by actual observation days and pooled animal-day exposure; no growth, nutrition or health diagnosis from apparent weight change.
