Agriculture Center Pivot Application Depth
Inventory complete center-pivot revolution water by supplied nonoverlapping emitter annuli, retaining radial depth distribution/losses; no coordinate routing or uniform full-circle application assumption.
Description
A center-pivot revolution distributes delivered water over annular areas.
A center-pivot revolution distributes delivered water over annular areas. Keeping ring depths separate avoids assuming uniform application across the full irrigated circle.1
Inventory complete center-pivot revolution water by supplied nonoverlapping emitter annuli, retaining radial depth distribution/losses; no coordinate routing or uniform full-circle application assumption.
When to use Agriculture Center Pivot Application Depth
Use this tool to inventory complete center-pivot revolution water by supplied nonoverlapping emitter annuli, retaining radial depth distribution/losses; no coordinate routing or uniform full-circle application assumption.
Prepare the field, crop, soil or material measurements for the intended period. Confirm units, dry/wet bases and supplied parameters; keep paired observations aligned.
How to use Agriculture Center Pivot Application Depth and understand its results
- Prepare the field, crop, soil or material measurements for the intended period. Confirm units, dry/wet bases and supplied parameters; keep paired observations aligned.
- Enter ringBoundaryRadiiM, ringEmitterDischargesLitersPerHour, fullRevolutionHours, deliveredWaterFractions using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read annularApplicationDepthsMm, areaWeightedPivotDepthMm, totalDeliveredPivotWaterM3. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| ringBoundaryRadiiM | Ring boundary radii m | list of number | Required |
| ringEmitterDischargesLitersPerHour | Ring emitter discharges liters per hour | list of number | Required |
| fullRevolutionHours | Full revolution hours | number | Required |
| deliveredWaterFractions | Delivered water fractions | list of number | Required |
Enter at least two increasing nonnegative ring boundaries in m, one nonnegative discharge and delivered fraction in [0,1] per ring, and positive full-revolution hours. Return annular mm, total-volume-over-total-area mean mm and delivered m³. The first radius may be above zero, leaving an excluded inner circle.
Paired lists must be nonempty and have equal lengths. Each sequence checked for increasing order must contain at least two strictly increasing values.
ringArea = π(rOuter−rInner)(rOuter+rInner); depthMm = dischargeL/hour × revolutionHours × deliveredFraction/ringArea Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| annularApplicationDepthsMm | Annular application depths mm | list of number |
| areaWeightedPivotDepthMm | Area weighted pivot depth mm | number |
| totalDeliveredPivotWaterM3 | Total delivered pivot water m3 | number |

} Limitations and assumptions
Rings must be nonoverlapping and discharges represent their complete assigned emitters. Partial-circle operation, changing speed and spatially uneven delivery within rings are excluded.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Numeric lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Agriculture Sprinkler Precipitation Rate: Convert measured catch-can volumes/openings to local sprinkler precipitation rates and weight by represented ground area; no ideal spacing/discharge uniformity assumption. For a complementary task, use Agriculture Irrigation Water Requirement: Balance caller interval crop demand with already-effective rainfall and planned available soil-storage draw, then convert to gross irrigation by supplied efficiency; no storage draw beyond caller availability or irrigation scheduling recommendation.
