Description
Return cap-area as signed gap and min(area, cap) as cappedArea.
Agricultural claim records combine declared areas, exclusions, duplicate units and supporting-evidence flags. Avoiding double counting requires the correct intersection or exclusion overlap. A reconciled area/count or verified-token share is bookkeeping rather than legal validation of a claim.
Return cap-area as signed gap and min(area, cap) as cappedArea.
When to use this tool
Use Eligible Hectare Cap Gap when checking the stated claim count, area or evidence-support convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter eligibleArea, suppliedCap. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read gap, cappedArea. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative eligible area and supplied cap. Return cap-area as signed gap and min(area, cap) as cappedArea.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |

| eligibleArea | Eligible Area | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| suppliedCap | Supplied Cap | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| gap | Gap | Required. Finite number. |
| cappedArea | Capped Area | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The cap is caller-supplied; capping the arithmetic does not establish eligibility or an entitlement.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
