Description
Gross=resits*fee+admin; creditUsed=min(credit,gross), due=max(0,gross-credit).
Education payment records distinguish subsidies, deposits, transferable credit, refund bands and administrative fees. A supplied calculation can reconcile a proposed balance without determining which fees or refunds are legally or institutionally available. Endpoint inclusion and the order of deductions can change the result.
Gross=resits*fee+admin; creditUsed=min(credit,gross), due=max(0,gross-credit).
When to use this tool
Use Exam Resit Fee Credit Balance when checking the stated caller-defined course-cost or refund convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter resits, feePerResit, transferableCredit, adminFee. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read grossFee, creditUsed, due. Use the output convention below.
Require whole resits>=0 and nonnegative resit fee, transferable credit and admin fee. Gross=resits*fee+admin; creditUsed=min(credit,gross), due=max(0,gross-credit).1

} Limitations and assumptions
- Admin fee still applies at zero resits; actual resit rights, credit transfer and fee/refund rules are not determined.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
