Description
Sum completed credits and return total-sum as a signed remainder.
Education credit bookkeeping depends on conversion factors, overlap, prior recognition, caps and prerequisite assertions. Contact hours and recognized credits are different quantities; a numerical equivalence or waiver flag does not establish accreditation or authority to award a qualification.
Sum completed credits and return total-sum as a signed remainder.
When to use this tool
Use Course Module Credit Remainder when checking the stated credit, overlap, rounding or prerequisite convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter totalCredits, completedCredits. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read completed, remainder. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative total and completed credit entries. Sum completed credits and return total-sum as a signed remainder.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| totalCredits | Total Credits | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| completedCredits | Completed Credits | Required. Array of finite number; minimum 0; maximum items 256. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| completed | Completed | Required. Finite number. |
| remainder | Remainder | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Repeated modules are not deduplicated; a negative remainder reports an overdrawn supplied budget, not a qualification decision.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Consult the institution’s current recognition and qualification rules and verified completion/evidence records for actual credit decisions.
