Office File Reference Check Symbol Tool

Caller-defined weighted modular check symbol with zero-based alphabet values, not a national or agency identifier standard.

Description

Sum alphabet-index*weight modulo modulus using exact integers; return remainder and alphabet[(modulus-remainder)%modulus].

Administrative records depend on literal identifiers, numbering conventions, check alphabets and ownership mappings. A duplicate count, check symbol or one-hop route helps reconcile metadata without authenticating a document or establishing who has authority over it. A well-formed label can still refer to the wrong record.

Sum alphabet-index*weight modulo modulus using exact integers; return remainder and alphabet[(modulus-remainder)%modulus].

When to use this tool

Use Office File Reference Check Symbol when checking the stated administrative key, numbering, continuity or routing convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter reference, alphabet, weights, modulus. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read remainder, checkSymbol. Use the output convention below.

Require a unique printable ASCII alphabet, aligned nonnegative whole weights, and modulus 1..alphabet length. Sum alphabet-index*weight modulo modulus using exact integers; return remainder and alphabet[(modulus-remainder)%modulus].1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Reference characters must belong to the alphabet; this is a caller-defined check symbol, not authentication or a universal file-reference standard.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use authoritative source records and the complete applicable document/process scheme for actual identity, routing or integrity decisions.
