EBV Accuracy
Convert an estimated breeding value reliability into the accuracy correlation as the square root of the reliability.
Description
Convert an estimated breeding value reliability into the accuracy correlation as the square root of the reliability.
EBV Accuracy applies one documented biological calculation to the values you provide. Convert an estimated breeding value reliability into the accuracy correlation as the square root of the reliability.1
When to use EBV Accuracy
Use this population- or quantitative-genetics calculation when genotype counts, variance components, pedigree relationships, and ploidy follow the definitions assumed by the tool.
- Reliability
- Reliability of the breeding value estimate.
How EBV Accuracy calculates the result
The implementation follows this calculation rule: Convert an estimated breeding value reliability into the accuracy correlation as the square root of the reliability.
- Accuracy correlation
- The calculated accuracy correlation.
Limitations of EBV Accuracy
Allele frequencies and genetic parameters describe the sampled population and model. Population structure, relatedness, selection, genotyping error, non-random mating, environmental covariance, and omitted variance components can bias interpretation. The output is explicitly an estimate or proxy; preserve that label when reporting it.
Alternative or Complementary measurements
Inspect genotype counts and Hardy–Weinberg diagnostics, or fit a pedigree/genomic mixed model when individual records are available. Confidence intervals and replication across populations are more informative than a point estimate alone.
