Wind Gust Factor Calculator
Convert a gust spread into a gust factor using a percentage of the spread.
Description
Apply a chosen percentage to the difference between gust and steady wind speed.
Wind Gust Factor Calculator apply a chosen percentage to the difference between gust and steady wind speed.
Use this when an operating procedure explicitly calls for adding a configurable share of gust spread to a reference speed.
When to use Wind Gust Factor Calculator
Use this when an operating procedure explicitly calls for adding a configurable share of gust spread to a reference speed.
How it works
Gust factor equals gust spread multiplied by the selected percentage divided by 100. The percentage defaults to 50 but remains an input rather than a universal rule.1
Interpreting the result
Keep the input units, direction conventions, encoding, and ordering rules visible when reusing the result. Preserve the full returned value for downstream calculations and round only for presentation.
Assumptions and limitations
This tool does not prescribe a speed additive. Use the percentage, caps, and applicability stated by the aircraft manual, operator, or governing procedure.
